Pet Portraits by Cindy Keen
Your pet's eyes have the ability to speak a universal language. It's that expression I try to capture in my designs. Using your photograph, I transform your image into art. I start by digitally manipulating the photo to prepare it for the encaustic process. Digital manipulation may include removing the background, resizing, and sharpening the image then the image is printed. Encaustic medium, a mixture of beeswax and damar resin is then applied to the print. The print is then mounted on a prepared wooden surface and fused with heat. Additional applications of wax, pan pastels, oil sticks, or other medium may be used to enhance the image. The finished piece can be buffed to a shine and does not need to be covered with glass.
